PRODUCT INFORMATION
Introducing the Dudjom Chod Ritual Puja Monk Damaru, a handcrafted masterpiece with the Chod Puja Mantra. This wooden damaru is specially prepared for the Buddhist Chod Puja ceremony. This monk Damaru is the most essential ritual item while doing the Chod Puja ceremony. Talking about its handcrafting process, our professional wood-carving artisans make this Damaru (drum) using high-quality wood that is authentically sourced from the Kavre Districts of Nepal. The artisans select the finest wood that they can use to make the drum that creates a decent sound as required to do the ceremony. Once the artisans give the selected wood a drum shape, then it is painted on the outside by the painting artist. It is then covered with authentically sourced goat skin but before that, the professional monks write the mantras on the surface using the golden color. This mantra is that it should be hand-written, and no letter shall be missed. These days, people print the mantra on paper and stick it on the inner surface of the drum, but our Chod Puja Mantra only comes with hand-written mantras. That’s only because we aim to keep the value of this traditional Damaru-making tradition. Once the mantras are written, it is then forwarded to the master again who puts the goat skin (Leather) on it. Then, the women artisans decorate this damaru with cultural fabrics (Damaru Tail) and sea shells as jewels. Once it is decorated with the jewels, the measurement of the drum is taken, and the bags with the strap are made to keep the drum inside so that it would be easier for its users or the monks to travel while carrying it. Usually, brocade fabrics with a cultural background are used to make the bags.
