Description
The Tibetan Tantrik Ghau large is a traditional, cylindrical Himalayan amulet box, engineered as a hollow, horizontal cylinder split into two parts. One side acts as a sleeve that slides smoothly into the other, creating a secure, hidden chamber meant to hold sacred protective mantras, rolled prayers, or herbal medicines. Unlike other typical square or teardrop-shaped Ghau or Gao, this particular design is a protective scroll or mantra case, crafted with rustic, two-metal aesthetics.
This Ghau features a design that can be pulled apart into its two interlocking sections and assembled as a single unit. The cylinder features a sturdy, integrated metal loop. When the container is fully assembled, these loops allow a cord to pass through so the amulet can be worn horizontally across the chest, attached to a shrine, or hung securely.
Furthermore, the overlaying copper body on both halves has prominent, stylized brass cutouts of the sacred mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum” in Tibetan script. The golden-silver lettering is raised significantly, creating a striking 3D contrast against the copper background. Also, the Tibetan Dorje symbol and “Om” around the cylinder add the ancient artistry to this Ghau. Similarly, the surface features slight irregularities, soft edge contours, and minor variations in the metal tone, emphasizing its authentic, hand-hammered, and hand-soldered origins.
In conclusion, this cylindrical Ghau is highly practical for travelers and practitioners. While its exterior is a beautiful display of craftsmanship and protective mantras, its primary visual and structural purpose is to act as a resilient, portable vault for sacred texts, keeping spiritual blessings close at hand.
