Description
The Vajra Cedarwood Incense (Dhupaya) is a traditional Newari rope incense and the burnt smoke issuing out of this incense is believed to attract the god hence it has been put to extensive use, especially in the religious fields both by Hindus and Buddhists.
The term “Dhupaya” means the incense in the Newari language and the Newar refers to the indigenous people of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. This incense has been traditionally handmade with many precious aromatic Himalayan Herbs. The finely powdered form of the herbs has been wrapped in thin strips of lokta paper and twined forming the incense rope.
Moreover, each of the ropes of this incense burns for 25 to 30 minutes and gives soothing smell. It measures approximately, 9 cm x 5 cm and contains 35 ropes in a bundle. Again, the ritual offering smoke coming from this incense powder rolled in this incense rope is naturally safe for inhalation and it is environment friendly. Light a rope from the thicker end and lay down on the incense burner that comes with this rope incense to feel the Aroma.
