Description
Our Citipati head door hanging mask is a traditional Himalayan brass piece representing one of the “Lords of the Charnel Ground.” In Vajrayana Buddhism, the Citipati are protector deities depicted as skeletons, symbolizing the victory over the ego and the realization of impermanence. The main body of this door hanging features a stylized human skull. Similarly, from the top and sides of the head is a crown composed of five smaller skulls, representing transmutation of the five negative poisons (ignorance, desire, anger, pride, and jealousy) into the five transcendent wisdoms.
Buddhist followers and Tibetans hang this mask on their doors to ward off evil energy. Your purchase of this mask door hanging supports our effort to keep this tradition alive.
